Know Why Facebook's Dark Mode Feature Disappeared For Some Users

.

Updated on Wednesday, June 8, 2022

Since 2020, Facebook had provided a dark mode option for iOS, Android and desktop users. But some users have posted that they are unable to switch on the feature. The color mode can be more convenient for the eyes when scrolling through your newsfeed or videos, especially at night. Other apps from Meta, such as Instagram and WhatsApp, have also benefited from dark modes, but Facebook switches off the feature from time to time..

Overview

How to check if you have got the dark mode

Well, it could be difficult to search for the dark mode option on iOS or Android, as it is not visible as other features. On the main screen, go to the ‘hamburger’ menu icon, then go to Settings & Privacy, scroll down to Preferences, and you should find Dark Mode there.

For desktops, reaching onto the dark mode option is very easy. Simply go to your profile on the top right, select 'Display and Accessibility', and switch on dark mode.

However, Meta has not given any explanation for why it switched off the feature for some or any reason of doing that so. It's a good feature that helps reduce glare and give your eyes a break. It could not be a strain on the company or the apps it offers, so the partial deactivation is an inexplicable decision.

For the moment, it is recommended to uninstall the app from your mobile phone, whether Android or iOS device, and then reinstall it. Check if that could make dark mode return for you.
